A quick intro to Parisian upcoming painter Pol Taburet - also working under the allias Yves Ciroc.
At only 24, Pol is already considered as "the future star of the French scene”*: represented by Balice Hertling before he even graduated art school, already collected by tier-one institutions like Lafayette Anticipations, he was also included in Ben Broome’s exhibition in Paris last year.
Pol represents nocturnal life, populating his paintings with monsters and mystical creatures borrowed to German Old Masters. Amorphous and enigmatic figures detach from brigtly-colored backgrounds, providing us glimpses of the artists influences, which range from Goya to Bacon by way of the video-games he eagerly played or the Voodoo stories his Guadeloupean grandmother used to tell him.
What do you think about the work? Also, who’s an artist living in your city that you think is up next? Show us your upcoming gems!
