For the last 7 years Ryol has had a strong interest in pop art. One of the pop languages that really interests him is the kind of appropriation work done by several American lowbrow artists such as Ron English and Robert William. The artist states that since the rapid development of technology since the advent of the internet so much reference material is available to be used freely by anyone, information can be accessed so quickly. References can be taken from multiple sources and even from other artists.
FELAX and RABBIT CAR ON THE HEAD are part of a larger series in which Ryol explores the method of combining two figures to produce a new figure from existing pop culture icons. For example in these latest editions Ryol recreated Rabbit Car, a vehicle used by a character named Monster Carrot in the Dragon Ball series. Meanwhile the inspiration behind Felax is a combination of Felix and the pokemon Snorlax.
